10 Step Speed test - do it here or at home!

  1. Measure out a 10 meter race lane

    • use tape, cones or other markers for the “start” and End of the lane

    • Use a meter stick or a tape measure

      • 10 meters is equal to 32feet, 10 inches

  2. You need a partner to time you

    • use the stopwatch function on a cellphone

  3. Start a few meters back from the start line

    • enough to get up to full speed running before crossing the start line

  4. Have your partner stand off to the side

    • they should be in a good position to judge

      • when you cross the start line

      • when you cross the finish line

  5. Tell the timer when your ready to sprint

    • Run as hard as you can

  6. Your partner should

    • start the timer when you cross the start line

    • stop the timer when you cross the finish line

  7. Record the distance run (10 meters) and the time it took to the nearest 0.1 seconds.

  8. Switch places and repeat with your partner.

  9. Calculate your speed in the GC Speed Test assignment

  10. Enter your results in the Google form
