Do Now:

    • leave it open on the table for me to check.

  2. Complete the “Rewriting Metric Measurements” worksheet per the instructions and examples.

    • You may refer to your flashcards if needed.

To Be Completed (homework):

  1. Greek and Latin Week 1 Quiz tomorrow.

  • Study your card deck several times per day.

  • Know the:

    • terms

    • definitions

    • abbreviations

    • whether it is Greek or Latin

Today’s Lesson:

Hand out Etymology HW and review.

Review the “Do Now”

Review the Metric Units Challenge Activities

Finish Liquid Measurement Lab (Students who have not gone yet)

Direct Instruction: Using a triple beam balance.

  1. Parts of a triple beam balance

    • pan

    • beam

    • sliders

    • pointer

    • zero knob

  2. Operation

    • clear pan

    • Sliders in the zero position

    • check pointer and use the zero knob to adjust as needed.

    • Place object on pan

    • adjust sliders one at a time

      • start with largest (100s)

      • find the highest number that is not too much

      • proceed to the 10s

      • repeat until balanced with the 1s

  3. Record your measurement
