Do Now:

Examine the “diagram of a truck” shown below.

  1. Four forces act on it. The vehicle is moving to the right.

    • (Ignore gravity and the normal force.)

  2. Sketch the digram in your notebook.

  3. Label the forces with the following:

    • Fa

    • Ff

    • Fd

  4. Calculate the net force on the vehicle.

  5. Calculate the acceleration of the vehicle using FDSS format.

Homework:

  1. Poster Project Due Date is Wednesday, January 15th.


  2. Force and Newton’s Laws Test Thursday, January 16th.

Today’s Agenda:

Creating content for your poster.

  • I can store posters in class.

  • Smaller materials papers with printed text, printed photographs, etc. can go in your filing cabinet folder.

  • If you want me to print material, do the following.

    • Create a single doc with all printed material you want.

    • Format it carefully so the size, color, shape, font, etc are exactly what you need for your poster.

    • Add a header with your name to the page(s)

    • Under the format menu, select “Headers and Footers” and type your name in the ”Header” box.

    • Share it with me with an email notification asking me to print it.


We are making motion and force measurements in the gym. Plan Accordingly.

  • This will occur only during homeroom time.

  • You must be approved. The requirements are:

  • You have a written plan of:

  • What you will measure.

  • how you plan to measure it.

  • a model of the calculations you will make.

  • all necessary equipment.

  • a written pass signed by me including any student(s) you need for assistance.

  • (You may also make them outside the classroom on the playground during class.)
