Students to draw magnetic field maps with their partner.

BrainPOP Magnetism in GC
Set up your paper with perpendicular lines drawn across the middle using the measurements shown here. Label them N, E, S, and W. Add tick marks every 1 cm on the horizontal line and trace the outline of your magnet in the center so it looks like what is shown below.
Now, begin drawing magnetic field lines using the method shown below. Begin on a tick mark on one side of your magnet.
Place the compass on one of your tick marks and draw a dot next to where “S” or “N” are located.
Center the compass over the dot you drew, and then draw a new dot.
Repeat the process on both sides of the compass for both North and South until you have enough dots to sketch out a magnetic field line. Connect the dots and then start a new line at a different distance from the magnet.
