Measuring Liquid Volume
Volume is a measurement of how much space a “body” occupies
Liquid volumes are measured in the lab using the metric unit of a liter (l)
milliliter (ml)
Tools for measuring liquid volumes include beakers and graduated cylinders
Graduated Cylinders are most accurate
A liquid is poured into the instrument and the volume adjusted as needed
The surface of the liquid forms a curve called the meniscus.
Always measure to the bottom of the meniscus.
