Do Now:

  1. Copy the homework into your agenda:

  2. Open your three ring binder. On the first sheet in the science section write the heading:

    • “What is a substance?”

  3. Copy the following definition:

    • A substance is matter with composition that is always the same.

  4. The room is set up with stations.

    • visit each station

    • examine the object there

    • decide whether the object is a substance

  5. In your binder:

    • describe the object

    • identify whether it is a substance.

    • Describe your reasoning in complete sentences.

  6. go on to the next station.

Homework:

read pages 381 to 383 in the online textbook

  • clearly define and describe elements, compounds, and mixtures

  • be sure your notes discuss key differences between these three things

  • Place sheets of lined paper in the section.

  • Add a date and title to the top of the first page.

  • Take all notes and perform all classwork for that day below this.

  • continue on to the next page if space runs out.

  • You may continue to use a page for more than one day if there is space.
