As we have learned, shape can be an important factor in how well a material resists flexural stress.


While waiting for glue to dry:

  1. Clean out your project folder in the filing cabinet.

    • Do not throw out any community service info.

  2. Review the truss designs in the Bridge desing competition in GC

    • Look in the “2016 Bridge Design Tips” file atatched to the assignment.

  3. Sketch possible bridge design you can build for the competition

    • Don’t forget to review the rubric requirements.

  • it is 5 cm high, 5 cm wide, and 20 cm long.

  • work on a “placemat’ of paper or carboard to keep glue of tables.

  • use a small 3x3 card for glue.

  • use a toothpick or a small piece of pasta as a “glue paintbrush” to apply glue to joints.

  • use glue sparingly - excess glue will wet and weaken pasta.

  • Avoid “Compound Joints” in your construction
